PhD thesis at Faculty of Arts discusses the risk of spreading Varroa parasite and its effect on honey bees in Iraq

The Faculty of Arts at the University of Kufa has discussed a PhD thesis in the Department of Geography of the student Montaser Sabah Mahdi al-Hasnawi, entitled as (spatial analysis of spreading varroa parasite and its impact on honey bees in Iraq) on Thursday, 24/10/2019.

The study has included the geographical distribution of honey bee that is producing bees in Iraq according to the governorates, the number of beekeepers and the quantity of honey production in these governorates. It also has discussed the natural and human factors affecting the spreading Varroa parasite in honey production areas in Iraq and in the specific areas of neighboring countries (Iran, Turkey, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait) through field work to determine the infection rates in this parasite affecting honey production.
