The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalil Al-Issa, and the Iraqi Hope Society, honor the Dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Kufa, Professor Aqeel Al-Khaqani

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Abdul Razzaq Abdul Jalil Al-Issa, the Iraqi Hope Society, honored the Dean of Faculty of Arts at the University of Kufa, Professor Aqeel Al-Khaqani

for his efforts in activating the role of Kufa University generally, and the Faculty of Arts specially, and constructing peace among all members of Iraqi society, in accordance with the legislation, laws, and the principles of human rights, so as to contribute in serving the society and solve its problems and development.

For more than a decade, College of Arts has realized that it and its university, with its cultural, religious, scientific, and national heritage, must play an effective leadership role in rebuilding what is destroying and reforming what is in our beloved Iraq. Faculty of Arts opened in 2008 a new department: civil society, the only section of its kind in Iraqi universities, and the experience of this section is an example of Iraqi universities, especially universities located in Iraqi provinces that have witnessed terrorist acts, such as universities: Mosul, Anbar and Tikrit.

This honor came in recognition of the great efforts made by the Dean of Faculty of Arts in the last four years. In accordance with the above, with the kind patronage of our esteemed ministry and our dear university.

During the meeting, the Minister stressed the need for the universities to play a major role in rebuilding peace, benefiting from the experience of Faculty of Arts at Kufa/University and expanding the cooperation between universities, state institutions and civil society organizations. And to encourage voluntary work to provide services and all kinds of material and moral support for the families of martyrs, widows, orphans and the poor. He also stressed the readiness of the Ministry to print a number of textbooks approved in some universities and centers on (the issues of dialogue and establishing peace) for section of civil society, and to support the development of master study in it, to create teaching staff specialist in this regard.

This is a great thank you to all those who helped the college to implement this humanitarian, national and moral program, individuals and institutions, especially in relation to the implementation of training programs and curriculum development of the civil society department, and thank you very much with praise to the supervisors of the United Nations Development Program in Iraq UNDP and its staff, the Iraqi Hope Society, the Center for Justice and Peace Building at the University of Mennonite, and the University of Utrecht in Netherlands.
