The Department of Geography at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Kufa investigated the uses of religious lands in the city of Kufa in a master’s thesis entitled: (Spatial Analysis of the Uses of Religious Lands in the City of Kufa) by the student (Zainab Hatif Abd). The researcher said that the study aimed to identify how the religious uses were distributed among the neighborhoods of the city of Kufa, and whether their distribution was efficient and in conformity with the Iraqi standards used in this field, adding that the study included four chapters preceded by a theoretical and conceptual evidence for it, the first of which examined the morphological stages of the development of religious land uses in the city Kufa, and the second dealt with the spatial distribution of religious land uses in the city and its spatial efficiency, while the third dealt with the functional efficiency of religious institutions in the city based on planning standards prepared for that, and the fourth dealt with the future need for religious institutions and estimating their spaces, as well as defining the religious region of a city Kufa, depending on the number of visitors coming to the holy religious institutions.
