A Master’s thesis has been examined in the Department of Civil Society, Faculty of Arts / University of Kufa, entitled: The Effectiveness of Civil Society Organizations in Enforcing the Rules of International Humanitarian Law in Iraq, by the student (Saif Hussein Kazem).
The researcher said that the study aimed to analyze the relationship between civil society and international humanitarian law, which civil society organizations used in their various means and tried to impose its rules at the national level in Iraq, indicating that the thesis reached a number of results, the most prominent of which is that the effectiveness of international and non-international civil society organizations It emerged during the US occupation of Iraq in 2003 and during the war with ISIS gangs in 2014 in sheltering the displaced as a result of military operations, as these organizations played a major role in providing humanitarian assistance to them, and among the most prominent of these organizations was the Red Cross.
