Faculty of Arts Tackles Ibn Tufail’s Criticism of Muslim Philosophers in Master’s Thesis

A master’s thesis has been examined in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Kufa, entitled: (Ibn Tufail’s Criticism of Muslim Philosophers _ An Analytical Study) by the student (Shifaa Abdul-Sada Mukhaif). The study included four chapters, the first of which discussed the life of the Andalusian philosopher Ibn Tufail and his philosophical views and his famous story (Hayy ibn Yaqzan) with mentioning the motives and reasons that prompted Ibn Tufail to criticize philosophy and philosophers in his time. The study came out with a number of results, most notably, the possibility of employing the philosophical critical approach to identify the problems of our time, considering the philosopher Ibn Tufail and diagnosing the problems as one of his priorities, and this is what Ibn Tufail followed in his philosophy and presented his views, and the possibility of employing the fictional and literary side to present the philosophical vision similar to what Ibn Tufail followed. In his famous story (Hayy ibn Yaqzan), which gave the human mind an advanced position to discover its world and reach true knowledge, and to stress away from imitating opinions and the possibility of presenting new insights, as the ability of the human mind can reach advanced levels to discover what is around it if it is employed in a manner Right.
