Professor in Faculty of Arts Participates in Examining Doctoral Dissertation on Characteristics of Northern Basins of Jabal Bikhir

The Professor at the College of Arts at the University of Kufa, Prof. Dr. Kamil Hamza Fleifel, participated in the discussion of a doctoral dissertation at the College of Education for Girls at the University of Kufa, entitled: Geomorphology and Hydrology of the northern basins of Jabal Bikhir. The thesis submitted by the student (Wafaa Hamid Hassan) from the Department of Geography aimed to know the geomorphological and hydrological characteristics of the northern basins of Jebel Bikhir and to reveal the variation of their geomorphic processes.

The study concluded that the study area represented by the northern basins of Jebel Bekhair is located within the unstable or twisted pavement of the Arab-Nubian surface of the high mountain range, and that the morphometric characteristics of the northern basins of the mountain are affected by the current climate, as it is located within the semi-arid climate, and the activity of erosion and sedimentation processes appeared in the region due to Heavy rain. The researcher recommended working on the continuous maintenance of the region’s wells by the competent government departments, digging new artesian wells for the use of groundwater, and the supervision of the concerned authorities over the quarries and factories in the region to invest their wealth in the right way that benefits the national economy.
