The Department of History held a panel discussion entitled: “Political Thought in England for the period 1660_1688” for master’s student Shahd Aqeel. The panel discussion was moderated by the committee consisting of Dr. Allawi Abbas Abd, Dr. Ahmed Naji Nema and Dr. Ali Khalil Ahmed.
The study dealt with the return of the monarchy in the person of King Charles II to the throne of England after the failure of the Commonwealth government to establish a new system of government compatible with the aspirations of the English society that seeks security and stability.
The study sheds light on the political ideas and cultures that played an important role in shaping the political and social events during that period. The study was divided into five chapters, each of which covers a specific stage in the history of English political thought.
