The Department of Geography holds a panel discussion on (the variation of suicide cases in Iraq)

     The Department of Geography at the College of Arts at the University of Kufa held a panel discussion by Dr. (Hussein Hatem Ali Al-Shibli), entitled (The variation of suicide cases in Iraq for the period from 2018-2022 AD), as the researcher confirmed that Iraq is the fourth country in the world in suicide cases in 2018 after countries: Chad, Niger and Sierra Leone.
In his study, Al-Shibli relied on the statistics published by local and international organizations, the most important of which were: the World Health Organization, the Gallup Center for International Studies, the Iraqi Ministry of Health, and the Iraqi Human Rights Commission.
Al-Shibli stressed that the causes of suicide that occurred in Iraq are economic (poverty), followed by ignorance, then psychological reasons, and finally social reasons. The most frequently used methods of suicide, according to their practice, are hanging, burning, shooting, drowning, and poisoning.
As reviewed by M.D. Hussein Al-Shibli Suicide cases that occurred in Iraq during the last five years from 2018 to 2022, which amounted to (1778) cases, distributed among (251) cases in 2018, (422) cases in 2019, and (456) cases in 2020, And (274) cases in 2021, and then (375) cases in 2022 AD.
