Section visions and objectives
I. Section Vision:
The Department of History seeks to settle and develop human and social knowledge in society through the development and development of individuals’ skills in a scientific and professional manner, and others through the development of specialized agencies in history that take upon themselves the study of the Arab Islamic heritage and human experience.
II. Section message:
One of the main elements of the Department of History’s mission is to work towards meeting the objectives of the College, the most important of which is to qualify the student academically and scientifically in a manner that is in full harmony with the requirements of the labor market in particular and directly.
The basic functions of the Department of Geography are based on three pillars:
Educational process: To provide an excellent learning environment for students and equip them with science to develop their intellectual level and abilities and make them responsible in the community.
Scientific research: The activation of scientific research through the participation of members of the faculty and students in the conduct of historical research and dissemination of knowledge to contribute to the development of society, drawing on past experiences and employment to serve the future.
Community Service: Consolidation of relations with the departments of the beneficiary state from the specialization of the department by providing research and future visions and holding seminars and scientific lectures in and outside the department.
The three basic functions in the above work to achieve the following detailed objectives:
To be a student in the preliminary or higher studies on the full knowledge of the history of Iraq in the past and present, and an optimal assimilation of the history of the Islamic nation, and the present of the Arab world and the great history of humanity, because of the importance of scientific and practical life.
Instructing the student scientifically based on the understanding of any historical incident requires analysis and interpretation and search for the causes and results in what the student has the ability to innovate in the interpretation according to the exact specialization.
The scientific staff in the department works to create and deepen the historical awareness of the students with a positive impact on the individual and society.
The department works to consolidate human values ​​through the scientific and humanistic concept of history, which is the highest value of society and the main engine of all its events and its efforts.
The Department encourages and works on the field study because the direct observation of the archaeological and heritage environment and the interviewing of influential people in the course of community events confirm and consolidate the historical knowledge of the students.
Participate actively with other sciences in dealing with the problems facing the society, especially terrorism and combating radical extremist thought, which has become one of the most important concerns that the community seeks to develop solutions to them.
The department works to create a historical figure with the ability to touch the facts and communicate them to the student in a spirit based on the practical interpretation of the facts and events of history.
Enable the student to understand how to use historical novels and documents to highlight the facts.
Qualifying the student to use the methods of scientific research and its techniques in accomplishing his research.
The department works to follow the latest developments and changes in the world in its political map according to the contemporary changes because of the impact on Iraq and the Arab world.
Developing the student’s scientific skills in the field of criticism and analysis to serve different historical studies.
III. Objectives of the Section:
The Department of History is one of the departments that works to rehabilitate cadres specialized in history, scientific and historical research as well as the preparation of cadres for educational and related institutions. One of the most important elements of the mission of the Department of History at the Faculty of Arts is to work to meet the objectives of the College, including the rehabilitation of the student academic and scientific qualification in a manner consistent with the requirements of the labor market.
